Happy New Year, interweb. 2014 will be an important one for me. I graduate, I’ll be moving SOMEWHERE, I’ll be getting a job SOMEWHERE. All of these details are still hanging in the air, but I will hopefully have developments very soon.
New Year’s Eve was a good time. I was enjoying this a portion of the night:
A tasty Tomintoul 27 year old, discontinued for a few years now, replaced by a 33 year old expression. I bought this stuff for a song back then, because the 33 year old is easily 3 times as much. It’s a rare treat drinking a scotch older than I am. It’s gentle on the palette, with subtle notes of peaches. Just a lovely scotch.
As we move forward into the new year, let’s carry our experiences and lessons from 2013 and use them so as not to make the same fuckups this year. That isn’t to say that there won’t be fuckups this year, because there absolutely WILL be, but let’s try and not make the same fuckups. Meet new people, get laid, fall in love (or the other way around), quit that shitty job you hate, get that promotion you’ve been shooting for, go back to school, pick up that new hobby. Whatever it is, make sure it makes you happy. We have no real purpose other than to make ourselves and our loved ones happy. Vonnegut once said: “We are here for no purpose, unless we can invent one.” Being happy isn’t always easy, and I think it’s an ambitious enough purpose worth pursuing for everyone.
